<p>We do hope you will stay for more than just one day in Pittsburg, but if your time doesn't allow for more than one day, let us suggest a few 'must see' places to spend your time. We have choices ranging from trying some of our famous Pittsburg Hot Links to seeing our acclaimed first flying machine and the last Shelby car ever purchased by Carroll Shelby himself at the Texas Rural Heritage Museum. Check out our sugggested site seeing list below and pick out a few things that will fit your time and interests. If you can't see them all one day then you have to come back to check out a few more 'must sees' on our list.</p>
Northeast Texas Rural Heritage Museum
Depot Museum and Farmstead Museum
If you don't have but one day in Pittsburg our Northeast Texas Rural Heritage Museum is a "must see". Enjoy a guided tour of the museum as you hear the fantastic story of the Ezekiel Airship, which we claim as one of the very first flying machines. You'll also see the last Shelby car purchased by famed, Carroll Shelby, who claimed Pittsburg as home, and so much more. And with a ticket to the Northeast Texas Rural Heritage you will also see the historic Farmstead museum. Museum Hours are: Thursday 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Friday 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Saturday 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Efurd Orchards
Fresh fruits, veggies, jams, and homemade ice cream!
The next thing you should do is head over to Efurd Orchards and try your hand at picking some fresh strawberries or blueberries if you are here in the spring. And if it's summer, you'll want to buy a basket of locally grown peaches and eat some of Efurd's homemade seasonal peach ice cream. If you are in the fall, go check out their huge selection of pumpkins. They also carry other locally grown farmers market produce, canned jellies, and more! Efurd Orchard is typically closed from November to April.
Witness Park and Prayer Tower
The Prayer Tower, made of Indiana limestone with a Vermont slate roof, features a chapel and a 75-foot tower with four Paccard bells from France. It was dedicated to the city April 1992. The tower is surrounded with beautiful landscaping and a gurgling fountain and life-size bronze showing Jesus washing Peter's feet. This small chapel is open to the public and inside has three long pews and a prayer altar. Four stained glass windows depict various scenes of the life of Jesus. The bells chime and play hymns on the hour.
Witness Park and Prayer Tower is the focal point of our Historic Main Street. The Tower is made of Indiana limestone with a Vermont slate roof. The tower is 75-foot tall and features four Paccard bells from France. The Prayer Tower was dedicated to the city April 1992. It is surrounded with beautiful landscaping, a gurgling fountain and a life-size bronze stature depicting Jesus washing Peter's feet. Inside the Prayer Tower is a small chapel surrounded by four beautiful stained glass windows depict various scenes of the life of Jesus. We hope you will enjoy hearing the Prayer Tower bells chime every hour on the hour as you stroll the streets of Pittsburg shopping.
Lake Bob Sandlin State Park
Lake Bob Sandlin State Park
Pittsburg is an amazing town for experiencing outdoor activities. But, if you only have one day, and you love nature and being outdoors, let us suggest Lake Bob Sandlin State Park. Lake Bob Sandlin is one of Texas's Best Kept Secrets.
This lakeside park offers fun on water and land. Swim, fish, paddle and boat on the 9,000-acre lake. Or picnic, hike the 3.3 mile hiking trail, camp, geocache, mountain bike and nature watch under the trees. Visit in autumn to see spectacular fall foliage.
The park loans fishing poles and rents kayaks for use in the park and you do not need a fishing license to fish from shore or pier in a state park (you will need a license to fish from a boat).
While dad and the kids are hiking and fishing, Mom and browse the gift shop at the front office to find the perfect souvenir. The gift shop has clothes, snacks and souvenirs for all ages.

BlackBerry Pines - Disc & Camp
BlackBerry Pines is a getaway Disc and Camping retreat, on 27 acres of Lush East Texas Piney Woods
Super wooded technical course. The property has quite a bit of elevation change (20”-50’ up and down). Course has Long and Short Turf tee pads. Players don’t need a lot of distance off the tee. But accuracy is premium. Slower speed discs are your friend at BlackBerry Pines. Camping is primitive with plenty of places to pitch a tent. The course does have a port-a- potty that is cleaned out weekly. There is a creek that runs through the course that comes into play on holes 13,14,15. Hole 18 has a little pond that is 8’ deep. Every hole has been carved out of the woods. With 50’ canopy ceilings on most holes. This is a Private pay to play course that is available to play every day of the year.
